Memento
(1'',1'',0.5'')
Materials: A found medal bolt, wire
The memory my memento is based on is one as a child with my dad. Outside of my hometown of Baraboo, WI, there is a hidden sculpture park that not too many people know about called Dr. Evermor's Art Park. Its almost completely hidden in trees and is only barely visible from the back road it rests on. For those who did know about it, it is almost always open, and when I was young Dr. Evermor was still there working on his sculptures and would always talk to us and tell us what he was working on. His sculptures are unreal. They are made from entirely found metal objects welded together to form these enormous science fiction looking sculptures that seem like they may just come to life. My dad and I would walk around the park and always be amazed at what he created.
For my memento of this memory, I found an old rusty bolt on the side walk. His art park has shaped who I am since I always pick up pieces of medal like that I find, so I picked it up and it remind me of going there and I decided to make that the base. Then I took wire and looped it around the bolt in intricate squiggles and tied the ends into two loops. This represents my dad and I walking around and around to all the different sculptures and the two loops representing the two of us.
