Floating Architecture

Blobroque
(12'',12'',24'')
Materials: Paper, masking tape, hot glue

This sculpture is influenced by two major architecture types: baroque and blob. While looking through the different types of architecture the biggest one that stood out to me was blob architecture because it seemed to break all the rules. It seemed like every other type was very geometric rather then blob which can go where ever in any kind of organic shape. I love how free formed that could be. Baroque also drew me in because of its beautiful details and extravagant nature.

I started off taping together small squares to form a blob type of form and then slowly made the squares longer until they were creating an elaborate baroque looking other end. I based my baroque side off of paper baroque wigs that reflect the detail of the architectural time period. Even though the two time periods are centuries apart, he they fit well together to create something modern with a renaissance twist.
